being HUMAN is a great example of how God turns an idea into reality. Shawn Carney, Director of the Coalition for Life in Texas, called Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) about bringing their radio programs to his community.

Shawn spoke with the EWTN Radio representative who eventually asked Shawn what he did for a living. Shawn told him about the lifesaving impact his community was having on the local abortion clinic and the radio representative said, "That would make a great TV show!" Before he could say anything Shawn was transferred to Ned South who was head of acquistions for the largest religious television outlet in the world, EWTN.

Shawn focused the pilot episode on a local pro-life campaign he helped start in Texas that was beginning to spread nationwide called 40 Days for Life. After meeting with Jeff Blaszak (Producer) and award winning director John Franklin, being HUMAN was born and filming began in Spring of 2007.

The first airing was June 25, 2007 and the response was overwhelming! The high quality production and inspiring call to action had people across the country wanting to get involved in the first ever national 40 Days for Life campaign.

In the Fall of 2007, 89 cities in 33 states prayed, fasted and kept peaceful vigil outside of abortion clinics for 40 days straight. This effort led to post-abortive women finding healing, abortion clinic workers leaving their jobs, and hundreds of moms choosing life for their babies!

The success of the Fall 2007 campaign led to countless other cities wanting to do the campaign. On Ash Wednesday 2008, the Spring 40 Days for Life was launched. To date, over 150,000 people in 144 cities in 44 states including Ireland, England, Brazil and Peru have completed this lifesaving campaign!

being HUMAN continued to air on EWTN, at church screenings, and Bible studies across the country motivating everyday people to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

One anonymous viewer was so moved by the show that she funded the next two episodes which will air in the Summer and Fall of 2008 in conjunction with the third nationally coordinated 40 Days for Life!

being HUMAN would not be able to impact lives and reach hearts and minds without the generosity of so many or without networks like EWTN that have brought Christ into 128 million homes in 140 countries around the world.

As we see God work through being HUMAN we remember Ned South from EWTN who was so helpful in getting the show off the ground but passed away before it was completed.
